Ascent: we follow the road next to the lake to reach the cable car leading to Lake Verde. We go along the valley on the right-hand side of the river, and follow the summer route. We go up a slope on the right-hand side of the dam to the Rifugio Canziani (Höchsterhütte, 2,561 m); approx. 2 hours.
We go right and round the lake (steep slope!) above a wide step, and we enter the valley on the left. We go up along a steep rocky spur and reach the edge of the Vedretta Fontana Bianca (Weissbrunnferner). We go up diagonally left as far as a steep summit slope leading to the summit. We go on and reach the start of the summit ridge (leaving our skis). We then go left along the ridge across the rocks.
Descent: via the same route. In spring, below the slope leading to the summit, keep right, passing by a crest you can go down through a wide channel, reaching the ditch at the far south-west end of Lake Verde. Going ahead down a steep slope you can reach the bottom of the valley and the car park.
Direction: south-east – east – north-east
Difficulty for skiers: average, high on alternative route
Difficulty for hikers: average in the summit area, ice axe recommended
Parking is available just before the Fontana Bianca reservoir (1,879 m)
From Lana along the Val d’Ultimo, through the village of S. Gertrude and continue as far as Lake Fontana Bianca; approx. 38 km
