Informationen zu TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant
In the middle of the mountains of the Val Senales lies Madonna di Senales, a place of pilgrimage as well as where the TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant is – and has been there for more than half a thousand years. Originally it served as the town’s inn, today it’s been turned into a modern four-star hotel, which offers – besides the enviable location – all the comfort and family hospitality needed. The surrounding mountains have been world famous since the discovery of glacier mummy Ötzi. In the autumn, winter and far into the spring, they offer a glacier-ski area, which is unparalleled (and not just because of the panorama), in summer there are countless hiking trails and summit tours – from the alpine pasture to the challenging combined rock and ice climbing.
The concept of the TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant, run by the Götsch family, is simple: Nature is not just to be looked at from the window, but rather brought in the house. For instance, the rooms and the natural spaces offer cozy ambience, modern design and furniture made of Swiss pine, larch or spruce wood, providing an incomparable forest smell. In addition, the cuisine is dominated by natural, local, fresh ingredients. "Naturnahes Kochen" (A kitchen close to nature) is this back-to-the-origin concept fowllowed in the kitchen, which not only spoils hotel guests, but also day guests of the restaurant and Pizzeria TONZHAUS in Madonna di Senales.
Nature also dominates the leisure and wellness offer at TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant. Thus, hotel guests can not only go on Ötzi's footsteps, but also explore the Senales mountains, pastures, forests and meadows together with a herbs expert. Back in the hotel, a 30-degree heated infinity mountain pool, a well-equipped alpine spa area and an extensive program of holistic massages, beauty and well-being treatments will await you.
Those who spend their holidays at TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant in Madonna di Senales can look back on 500 years of history - and on one of the most impressive glaciers of South Tyrol.
Nature dominates the rooms in the TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant in Val Senales, in every room. The modern Pinus-Cembra Suite (36m²) is, as the name suggests, in the wood of the local Swiss stone pine, while the Larix room covering 26 m² is in larch. The furniture of the Picea rooms, which are designed as a family room with three or four beds, as well as the approximately 22 m² Salix rooms, is made of South Tyrolean spruce wood. All rooms are equipped with WC, shower, bidet, satellite TV and free W-Lan. The view of the impressive mountain and glacier world of the Val Senales can be seen all of them.
Wood inside, forest outside
Yes, cooking begins with the selection of the ingredients – and the philosophy behind the "close-to-nature cooking" by Chef Andreas Götsch in the restaurant and the TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant in Senales is a brilliant example. A rich selection of fresh, natural ingredients is found in front of the hotel. The natural and organic products are served at the breakfast buffet from the local Oberniederhof farm, along with a tea corner, a cereal mill and freshly squeezed juices. The TONZHAUS full pension also includes a varied afternoon buffet with juices, homemade cakes, tea and fruit. And for the four-course evening menu Götsch uses the best products from the region, and – as a hunter – fresh game. If you want to have a pizza, it is also worth paying a visit to the hotel pizzeria.
Cooking close to nature with ingredients from the Val Senales
Val Senales is an active valley, which in the summer lures tourists with its hiking trails, bike and summit tours, in winter with snow-sure, challenging slopes. So much spoiling is already provided for tired muscles, which will be brought back to the Alpine Spa at the TONZHAUS Hotel & Restaurant. There is a 30-degree heated mountain pool with a view of the surrounding mountains, as well as an aroma steam bath, a Finnish and a bio sauna, an infrared cabin and a whirlpool. You can also relax in the South Tyrolean sheep wool bath, with holistic massages or a rich selection of beauty and well-being treatments.

As already stated: Val Senales is an active valley. Those who love hiking can choose between countless hiking trails at altitudes of 500 to 3000 meters, explore huts and cycle through the impressive landscapes of the natural park of the Gruppo di Tessa. The glacier world of Senales offers more demanding tours. Here one can also – if one would like – go on Ötzi's footsteps and visit his site. In autumn, winter and spring, on the other hand, the skiers, snowboarders and ski tour fans enjoy the Senales glacier. At 3200 meters above sea level there is a glacier area, also popular among top riders, and there is an almost limitless choice of tours for every level of difficulty.
