A mention must be given to the most ancient bell in the parish of Tesimo, dating back to the year 1556, which is located i this little church. The exact age of the San Ippolito church is not certain. However, it is very likely that the place where the church stands today was the seat of the Longobardic castle of Tesana, from which the name of the village Tesimo was taken.
The hill of San Ippolito (Saint Hyppolytus) located in the outskirts of Merano was used as a place of worship already in pre-historical times. The first time that the little church was mentioned in documents dates back to 1286.
