Informationen zu AVS-Rifugio Tre Scarperi
Today, Alfred Innerkofler and his family run the AVS Tre Scarperi Refuge in San Candido, at an altitude of 1.626m. The robust hut has a turbulent history behind it. It burned down only ten years after it was built, and during the 1930s it changed hands often and gradually became run down. A few years later, the AVS (the South Tyrol Alpine Club) replaced it with a more spacious building which was inaugurated in 1975, and today is popular as a place to stop and eat.
From the refuge’s sunny terrace, you are welcomed by the view of the sunny peaks of the Sesto Dolomites and in the welcoming “Stube”, a typical Tyrolean room, antlers and souvenir pictures decorate the salls. The food is excellent, with Alto Adige specialities such as dumplings with goulash or tempting Kaiserschmarrn (fried cakes). Guests can also spend the night in the Refuge’s comfortable bedrooms or in the rustic dormitory: a unique experience that will make you feel close to nature and to its tranquillity.
Around the refuge there is a network of paths and you can also go on high altitude hikes in the wild mountain world. Early in the morning, many tourists take the path up to the peaks.

Sleep in the mountains
From the beginning of June to the end of September, the AVS Tre Scarperi Refuge offers overnight accommodation at high altitude. Double rooms and dormitory beds add up to 56 places altogether. With gingham linen and rustic wooden furniture, you can be sure of a good night’s rest in this natural environment.
The rooms have everything you need for your comfort and have the innate, authentic charm of the mountain refuge. The Refuge is ideal for stopping off during a long excursion, for a spontaneous overnight stay, or to spend a few days in the heart of this area of natural beauty.
Gingham sheets and the rustic atmosphere typical of a refuge.
A rest stop at the AVS Tre Scarperi Refuge is well worth it. During the day we serve local specialities: delicious home-made Alto Adige dishes. Among our guests’ favourites are dumplings with goulash and Kaiserschmarrn (fried cakes) with cranberries, and home-made apple cake with vanilla ice cream. Tired walkers regain their energy after a meal with us, and can continue their exploration of the Sesto mountains. Outside the refuge, the peaks are calling.
