Weiter auf flach ansteigenden ruhigen Straßen hoch über Messina. Zum Schluss der anstrengende Höhepunkt zum Monte Antennamare mit Wallfahrtskirche. Von Ragalna aus geht es in nördlicher Richtung zum Ätna. Am Anfang geht es nicht ganz so steil nach oben. Aber je weiter du zum Ätna kommst, desto anstrengender wird der Anstieg. Die Durchschnittssteigung auf den finalen 13,5 Kilometer liegt bei ca. 6,2 Prozent.
