This 120 km long route brings you from the city of Bozen into the valley Nonstal that is located right next to the Brenta Dolomites. The first part is ideal to warm up as you drive along the river Etsch. In San Michele all’Adige you start to follow the river Noce and the ascent onto the western flank of the Nonstal valley, where you can admire the numerous apple orchards.

Directions

After the start in Bozen you follow the path Etschradweg for 42 km until you reach Masetto. Turn right to cross the river via the “Etschbrücke” (1) and to follow the SP29 in the direction of (2) Mezzocorona. Continue to reach (3) Mozzolombardo via the same road until you reach the (4) junction with the SP 43. Turn right in the direction of Cles and follow the SP73 and SP43 to turn right (5) to get to Denno (6). Pass through Cunevo and Tenno until you reach Cles (7). In Cles you turn in the direction of Trento/Dermulo (8). After the bridge over the artificial lake Lago di San Giustina (9) you turn left in the direction of Trento/Passo Mendola. Continue in the direction of Sanzeno and Romeno, always along the SS43 and following the signs for Bolzano/Passo Mendola. After Cavareno (10) keep right on the SS42. Via the Mendelpass (11) you will come back to South Tyrol. Through Eppan (12) and via the bike path you will get to (13) Sigmundskron and back to the river Etsch. Follow it upstream (14) to get back to Bozen and you starting point.

Through small villages with large churches and small fountains you will make your way back to the main attraction of the region, the artificial lake Lago di San Giustina. In Cles you switch to the opposite part of the valley to start the evenly spread climb onto the Mendelpass. While driving down you can admire the view of the green lake Kalterer See. Via the famous “Weinstraße” and the bike path you can finally get back to Bozen.
