The Isarco river originates at the Brennero Pass, at 1,990 m above sea level, and flows for 96 km, into the Adige River, south of Bolzano.
The main towns along its course are Vipiteno, Bressanone, Chiusa, Ponte Gardena and Prato all’Isarco. At Ponte Gardena, Chiusa and Fortezza, the river is used for generating electricity.
