The Rotbachlspitze is a very rewarding summit with great views. It is situated between the giants of the Hochfeiler group, above the Pfitscherjoch on the Austrian border, and offers a view of all surrounding glaciated peaks.

Directions

Your walk starts at the 4th bend of Pfitscherjochstrasse. After this turn, the road is closed to traffic. Track No. 3, signposted just after the bend, follows the toad and leads to the pass. The Pfitscherjochhaus is clearly visible on the wide mountain pass, with the Rotbachspitze towering above with its characteristic red strata of rock. The marked track (No. 4) bypasses the small lake beneath the hut, then leads up across the grassy ridge to the clearly visible summit. Climbing up the increasingly steep mountain ridge, you are effectively walking along the state border. For the descent, follow the same route.
