A very famous goal, both thanks to the dimensions of this massive mountain and because of the beautiful panorama. It is a challenging and exhausting climb, though, as the difference in altitude is high. The remote mountain is usually only visited by chamois and offers a relatively easy access via the northern crest.

Directions

Along the path n. 301, this tour brings you over a unpleasant and stony path promptly into the forest, crossing forest paths again and again. At the curve on 1450 m you take the path to the right in the direction of the alp Spora Alm. After a first piece of exposed track (ropes) you can walk below the rocks of the Dagnoal-peak to reach the location Fontana Fredda (1630 m) and the notch 301/302.

After the next junction to the Piz Galin you will reach another junction with the sign for path 301/338. You turn right (north) for the long Cavai valley until you reach the notch of the Montoz saddle (2327 m). Here you turn left (west) to follow the red signs on the northern side of the Cadinei valley that bring you onto the peak of the S. Maria mountain.

On 2500 m you leave the path to cross the steep gravelly hillsides to the left and south-east of the mountain to eventually reach the Crosara pass (2562 m, view of the central Brenta). Through large rocks on the eastern side you can now follow a path the chamois have created. Only partly visible, you can follow this track until you reach the northern back of the mountain Fibbion.

Now you continue on the eastern side between rocks and debris to climb up on the right side to reach the peak of the Monte Fibbion (2665 m, excellent view of the Andale, Brenta, central and northern, Monte Corona chain). On the eastern side you can then walk uphill on the left side until you reach another junction on 2610 m. From this point you walk north to reach the peak of the Crosara del Fibbion (2673 m, view of the Cima di S. Maria, Monte Corona, Croz del Re).

To get back to Pegorar you follow the same route back.
