The Mesdì valley is also part of the Sella Group. the steep and imposing walls of this scree reach an impressive angle of 45° and resemble the shape of a gorge. From colfosco, the highest village (1645 m) in the Alta Badia, the view of the valley and the surround- ing Dolomitic peaks is stunning.
From the Piz Boè cable car valley station in corvara ➊ 1530 m ride to the fork at the Bar del Lago ➋; take a left here on the equipped path (Borest forest) ➌, initially on a steep gradient, follow signage to “cascate“ (waymark n. 28), at the crossing ➍ (glimpse of the Val de Mesdì with waterfalls) continue straight and get to the fork ➎ 1720 m; right onto route n. 650 in the direction of colfosco, and soon getting to the SS 244 ➏. Descend on this for 800 m, pass under the ski-flyover and immediately to the left ➐ start the climb towards the town-centre of colfosco ➑ 1650 m. Following route n. 10 first pass the church and then, heading east, the villages of costa and Pescosta ➒ 1540 m; take a quick descent to corvara, then cross the SS 244 and eventually return to the starting point.
