At 2847 m elevation, the Cima d’Asta is the highest mountain in the Alpi Fiemmesi: a massive granite block. It takes two days to go around it, and one only truly realise how big it is at Passo Cinque Croci; an incredible view on the Lagorai range and the Pale di S.Martino. The route unfolds through the Val Campelle, the Valle del Vanoi and on the way back along the Tesino plateau and the Valsugana.
Set off in ➊ Strigno (506 m) and pedal up to ➋ Spera (557 m), still climbing on a strong gradient head toward the Val Campelle, and pass by the ➌ Rifugio Crucolo (1110 m) and the ➍ Rifugio Carlettini (1372 m). From the Ponte Conseria bridge take the forest road and follow the signs for MTB route n. 243, at the fork to ➎ Malga Valsorda go straight and above the Malga Conseria (food stop) follow the waymark to the ➏ Passo Cinque Croci, 2018 m. From here descend on a forest road along the Val Cia and reach the Rifugio Refavaie (1116 m), ➐ the destination and overnight stay for day 1.
On the road descend the Valle del Vanoi to the village of ➑ Caoria (850 m), crossing the bridge proceed to the other side of the valley and carry on descending to the valley bottom and the Passo Brocon road, the SP 79 ➒. Take this to the right, riding through the town of ➓ Ronco (845 m), (water fountain), and reaching the highest point of the day, the ⓫ Passo Brocon (1616 m). From the Hotel Passo Brocon, immediately to the left of the building, starts a long downhill of 12 km (700 vertical m) through the Val Nuvola to the fork ⓬ of Coronini; from here take a right and follow the signs to Castello Tesino/ Cascatelle. At the access to the ⓭ SP 40 stay to the right, in ⓮ Cascatelle, proceed straight ahead on the dirt road until it becomes pave-ment again, and continue to ⓯ Castello Tesino (905 m). Avoid the village and stay on the road in the direction of Pieve Tesino, continuing to the small town of ⓰ Molini. Turn right and follow the signs Tolissa/Tesino, bike on a light ascent, entering the Val Malene for about 1 km. At the end of this cross the ⓱ Grigno river and follow Strigno as the main direction, eventually arriving in ⓲ Pieve Tesino (840 m). Cross the town and follow the secondary road above the main road to ⓳ Passo Forcella (920 m). Just after the pass follow the sign to Pradellano up to the namesake lake and on the left side of the valley return to Strigno on a pretty rough forest road.
