Directions
The mountain bike tour on the Brixner Höhenweg (Alta Via di Bressanone) begins at the lower station of the Plose cable car (operating times here: http://www.plose.org/sommer/preise-oeffnungszeiten.html). You can float up the ascent to the upper station in a few minutes. At the upper station, start riding on the small road up to the Plosehütte and continue to the Telegraph. Once here, most of the ascents will be behind you. Next comes a very long, at times technical descent to Brixen (Bressanone). There are some tricky sections which only very good riders should tackle on their bikes. For most, it's worth pushing your bike for a short while.
From the Telegraph, path 6 leads you north to the Leonharder Kreuz and then winds down to the Plosescharte. From here, take a somewhat easier path for a few minutes down to the Ochsenalm (and a chance to stop for a bite to eat).
Continue down the small road for a few metres and before the first hairpin, turn left onto the Brixner Höhenweg (Alta Via di Bressanone – marked no.30). Ride along it slightly uphill for 1.5km, and then along the treeline to the south. Here you will be losing altitude overall, but there are several little ascents. After 3.4km, take a sharp right onto path no.4 and follow it through the forest. The hairpins are tight and some sections may be partly blocked. Continue down it until you reach the lower station of the Plose cable car.
