What has a Dolomite pass have to do with cycling technique? not much, unless mountain bikers just happen to be in the area on two wheels. In the case of the Passo croce d’Aune things are slightly different. Tullio campagnolo, notorious cyclist and founder of the namesake bicycle components company, who was forced to a halt by a puncture in the ‘20s exactly in this place, came up with the concept for a quick release mechanism, which he eventually patented in 1930. This mountain pass, located at the edge of the Dolomiti Bellunesi national Park, is a popular starting point for cycling and hiking tours in the summer season. those souls who are especially searching for quiet mountain roads are in for a treat.
