Some of the peaks are barely visible in the background, yet even so the beauty of the landscape is staggering. It’s true that the tour runs along the old Dobbiaco–cortina–calalzo railway – now converted into a bicycle path – for almost 34 km, but the rest of the itinerary is tough in many sections. that is reason enough to make use of the cristallo lift (summer months: from mid-June to mid- September); this will avoid one big climb and some muchn-eeded energy for the big descent into the Val Padeón. the rough terrain, rain grooves and the final very steep downhill section to ospitale require good riding skills and a set of good working brakes.
From the ➊ train station in Dobbiaco (1220 m) take the rather well signposted Dobbiaco–cortina bicycle path, which leads to Val di Landro; riding along the ➋ Lago di Dobbiaco (1280 m) continue to the ➌ Lago di Landro, climbing on a gentle gradient (1403 m). Above ➍ carbonin, at the fork, ride toward Lago di Misurina and keep on the mountain-bound road for 6 km, through the Val Popéna, up to the ➎ Lago di Misurina (1750 m). Having arrived at the lake, turn left at the Hotel ➏ Miralago, and proceed along the bank to the end of the lake. Follow signage for col de Varda, and after 100 m take the forest road to the right, slowly exiting the valley and arriving at the access to the ➐ SS 48; from here, continue to the next crossing ➑. At this point, on a gentle slope, climb in the direction of cortina and get to the ➒ Passo tre croci (1800 m). Descend the road to the ➓ cristallo lift valley station (1698 m), and take the lift. From the ⓫ Rifugio Son Forca (2216 m) descend the steep Val Padeón (warning: rough dirt road!!!), take a right at the ⓬ wooden bridge, straight into the final and very steep downhill section to ⓭ ospitale (1480 m). continue from here on the bicycle path to Dobbiaco, which involves a slight climb to reach the ⓮ Passo di cimabanche (1530 m). At this point there is a moderate descent into Dobbiaco.
