The Sellaronda is a milestone for skiers and excursionists. Up to WW 1 this area was part of Austria; today it’s part of the province of Belluno. It has only been for a few years that mountain bikers have been riding this route using the help of lift facilities.
From the Porta Vescovo ➊ cable car valley station (1600 m); on a secondary road parallel to the Passo Pordoi main road, head east up to its end ➋ by the Pont de Vauz bridge. Following the road, at switchback n. ➌ 23 keep to the left and continue on a narrow mountain road that leads below the mountain station ➍ of the Porta Vescovo cable car (2350 m), which is also the highest point of this tour. Descend from here to the intermediate station of ➎ Pescol (2150 m), take a right and start a short climbing section; after 100 m follow signage n. 698 to Arabba. A steep climb up a forest road takes leads to a ➏ crossing, turn right, and then left at the ➐ next crossing, following waymark n. 634 to Pieve up to ➑ col d’ornella (1550 m). take the paved road to the Hotel ➒ al Forte (1455 m) and from here back to Arabba on the Sr 48.
From the hotel al Forte there are still 170 vertical metres to be conquered.
