You do not have to get into fear-inducing heights to get exciting trail tracks. This variegating tour, just above the valley itself, has everything you need for an exciting bike ride.

Directions

You start at the square near the bike-hotel Goldene Krone, 565 m (1), and you leave Brixen to the east. You cross the river Eisack and the river Rienz, drive uphill for a short track and after approx. 1 km you turn right near a small chapel onto a hiking path (n. 5-6), 603 m (2). You follow this large trail through the forest and reach an asphalted road (approx. 200 m before you reach the old church of Milland “Maria im Sand”). You turn left, cross another river and follow the trail n. 7-8, then 8. You cross the main road, always along the trail n. 8 and after another 400 m you reach the mountain village Klerant, 856 m (3). You cross this village to the south until you reach the Oberplanetzhof, 880 m. After having passed this farm you follow a technically difficult track and shortly after you will, again, find yourself on another forest road. You follow it and leave it again at the junction with trail 12, 875 m. On this technically challenging trail you will reach the small village of Albeins which you will then leave again near the restaurant Kircher. Via the forest road n. 9 you keep climbing steeply and pass the Kasserolerhof until you reach the mountain village Teis, 957 m (4). In Teis you reach the heighest point of this tour and you keep right after the village’s centre. Following the trail n. 11 you get back down, following a trail that is sometimes quite challenging to get back into the valley Eisacktal. After you reach the road of Villnöss you cross the Eisack river and follow the bike track of the valley Eisacktal, 539 m (5). Until you reach Brixen you can enjoy your view back of the track you have already surmounted. (At 5 you can also keep to the left of the river to continue via a more difficult track through the forest and to get back to Albeins. Here you have to calculate another 180 difficult metres in altitude change.)
