Apple and walnut cake

At the Wiesler alpine hut we grow tasty apples and crunchy walnuts. The delicious result: our apple and walnut cake.

Ingredients for 1 cake:
250 g butter, 250 g sugar, 1 sachet vanilla-flavoured sugar, 5 eggs, 250 g flour, 1 sachet baking powder, 250 g ground walnuts, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 2 tablespoons cocoa, 3 tablespoons rum, 3-4 apples, icing sugar

Method:
Wash, peel and roughly grate the apples. Mix the apples with the rum and marinate briefly. Whisk the softened butter until creamy. Blend the cream with the sugar and vanilla-flavoured sugar. Gradually add the eggs whisking until you get a soft cream. Add the flour, baking powder, walnuts, cinnamon, cocoa, and finally fold in the apples delicately. Cook at 175°C for approx. 60 minutes in a pre-heated oven. Let the cake cool and sprinkle with icing sugar.
