The Rainer hiking hotel in the Val di Giovo offers outstanding individual quality and a tailor-made nature experience.
The Val di Giovo in the village of Racines near Vipiteno has everything a mountain valley has to offer. Unspoilt woodlands, beautiful alpine landscapes and majestic peaks. Numerous hikes and mountain tours lead through this diverse alpine landscape.
The nature and hiking hotel Rainer is not only a place to stay and for relaxation but also a culinary delight all in one. Modern charm runs through the luxurious rooms and suites of the nature hotel Rainer. The cuisine is characterised by traditional South Tyrolean dishes. Chef Hannes loves his work and the guests love his dishes.
The alpine weather often changes quickly. A sunny day can easily turn into a rainy day. For the guests of the nature hotel Rainer, this is the "chance" to explore the versatile wellness ambience. A good mood is therefore guaranteed.

He will delight your palate with imaginative dishes using ingredients sourced from local farms, from which he will create both traditional and international dishes. I find it immensely rewarding when my guests are happy and fully satisfied. I think you'll realise this when you sample our culinary creations.
Some time ago Italian cuisine became part of German culinary ethos to the South of Brennero. These days it's hard to imagine a meal without pasta, pizza, parmesan cheese, or mozzarella. In this way in Alto Adige alpine home cooking has blended with the spirit of Italian cooking from the Mediterranean. However, Italian cooking isn't the only one to have had a major influence on our culinary customs and tastes. These days, in the culture of globalisation, multicultural exchanges do not only occur on a social or political level, but also on a gastronomic level. As a result ingredients, dishes and spices from Asia, Africa and South America have enriched and enhanced South Tyrolean cooking. We are constantly creating new dishes which will delight our guests' palates.
Our small but excellent wine cellar is decorated with wood in the South Tyrolean tradition. In this atmospheric setting unique wines of outstanding quality and excellent vintages are stored and aged.
Our new spa includes a modern swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a new unique sauna. As with the rest of our hotel, the use of natural materials is fundamentally important to us. There is a warm, bright, and welcoming atmosphere thanks to use of natural stone. The pool is equipped with sun loungers and relaxation areas, which create a pleasant and luxurious atmosphere.
The sauna is small but welcoming. Soft lighting and natural atmosphere make this a calming and relaxing environment. At the end of an activity-packed day having a sauna relaxes both your body and mind. After a session in an infra-red cubicle you'll feel totally re-energised. You'll feel relaxed and reinvigorated after a Turkish bath or a session in the sauna as this will have a relaxing and regenerative effect on your muscles. This will also improve and stimulate your circulation and metabolism. After the sauna you can have a refreshing Kneipp bath and shower, and in winter this will be outside in the snow.
Nature Bath Day Spa
In our "Naturbad am Bergbach" spa our staff will recommend a suitable wellness programme for our guest. A massage will restore balance to your body and spirit. Using natural oils and aromatherapy the warm hands of our masseurs will give you a wonderful sensation of wellbeing. Full body massages, facial massages, and foot massages in foot baths, and other types of massage are available. In the ancient world the healing properties of baths and health and beauty treatments was already well known. Our guests will be pampered in our Òvitalis bath by candle light. Having a hay or pine bath will allow you to forget the outside world for a couple of hours and will relax and reinvigorate you. The power of herbs with their lovely scents has a beneficial healing effect.
Things to doWINTER
Well-organised, diverse and set in natural surroundings. These three definitions suffice to fully describe the Racines ski resort. But if we take a closer look we will see that Racines is much more than this.
First and foremost on account of its unique setting and its sheer size it attracts skiers and keen snowboarders of all abilities. At the same time it is a virtually unspoilt leisure environment for anybody seeking peace and relaxation.
You can run barefoot over the grass, breath in the scents of spices and flowers or listen to the sound of streams. How wonderful it is to experience nature with all your senses, surrounded by majestic mountains. You will enjoy all this when you set off on a hike from our Val Giovo mountain hut.
Once a week we invite our guests to a lovely barbecue on a mountain slope. You can enjoy fine company and food such as home-produced meat and home-made würstel, which our chef Hans will cook for you. And after your meal we will of course serve you a fine grappa.
During the hikes, Sabrina, the owner's daughter will take pleasure in pointing out to you the marvellous alpine vegetation.
