The rifugio Alpe di Tires in the legendary Sciliar area.
The Rifugio Alpe di Tires is located in the mountain pass of the same name, where it appears that all the routes converge. Here, where the routes from the Sciliar lead to the Sasso Lungo and Sasso Piatto, and from the Alpe di Siusi to the Catinaccio, 50 years ago, the alpine guide, Max Aichner di Tires, brought to fruition his daring plan to build an alpine hut. Over the years the rifugio has undergone inevitable changes to keep up with the times and to adapt itself to the increasing requirements of its guests while remaining faithful to its original character. Today the rifugio is a meeting point, a shelter from bad weather conditions, but also a restaurant offering delicious gourmet food. Even though these days the building has electricity, central heating, showers and even a few touches of luxury, life at 2,500 m above sea level is still a little different from life down in the valley. Here it’s slower, calmer and more peaceful. Whether it’s a result of the lack of oxygen at such a high altitude, or that up here you aren’t aware of the problems of the world, we’ll let you decide. Only those who experience the atmosphere which reigns up here will know the answer. A rifugio to relax in and enjoy the peace and quiet.
