The Lac Blanc refuge is one of the most popular huts on the TMB circuit and one of the best viewpoints in the region.

It's easy to see why this hut is so popular.  The Lac Blanc refuge sits on a sunny balcony in the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve high above Chamonix, with gorgeous postcard-perfect views (you've probably seen the photos) across the small lake to the Mer de Glace and Mont Blanc.  The hut is fairly easily reachable on foot, just under 2 hrs uphill from the Flégère gondola, and is also well-placed for a hiking break on many hikes in this area.

Expect crowds during the day, but there are also lots of tables plus plenty of seating on the rocks around the lake.  This is a place to share. They serve a variety of traditional dishes - omelettes, grilled sandwiches, meat and cheese plates, salads and their irresistible blueberry torte.  Cash only.  Bring euros.
