Family friendly trails between three medieval castles in Oltradige (Überetsch)

Drive from San Michele/Appiano (St. Michael/Eppan) through San Paolo (St. Pauls) over to Corba (Korb) Castle (444 m; large parking lot). From there just walk on the narrow asphalt road north, then turn left at the signposts, always staying with Trail No. 9A and signs  for Burgenweg. After a 30-minute hike up through some beautiful forests, you reach the ruins of Boymont Castle (580 m; food). Go back along the descibed approach for about 300 metres then turn left and follow Trail No. 9A, initially slightly uphill and later flat, to the edge of a ravine. From there, steep hedged stairs lead you up to the creek; beyond it, take the old footpath up to Hocheppan Castle at 628 m; food; about 1 hour from Boymont. Descent (return to Corba Castle): From Hocheppan Castle, follow Trail No. 9 and signs for Burgenweg a piece down the asphalt road (if you want to visit the Kreideturm chalk tower, stay on this road) and turn right at the signs, descending on a beautiful trail through scrublands and vineyards, mostly flat, south through the slopes, and finally again briefly on the road back to Corba Castle; 1 hour from Hocheppan Castle.
