Family-friendly hike near Silandro (Schlanders) and Cortaccia (Kurtatsch) in Val Venosta (Vinschgau) Valley

Directions

From Silandro (Schlanders) at 721 metres, follow signs that say “Promenade” to the northeastern edge of the village, then trail markings (No. 5) to the eastern starting point of the Sonnenpromenade (Sun Promenade) at 820 m. From there, you’ll walk along Schlandraunbach Stream for a bit and then switchback steeply up through the forest to the Ilzwaal water channel (about 930 m; 45 minutes from Silandro). Walk west along the trail adjacent to the water channel all the way to a water reservoir, and continue west along a flat path traversing the forested slopes westwards.  Continue down to the little Church of St. Egidio (Ägidius) at approx. 825 m. From there, take the footpath that starts close to the church, under the chestnut trees, down to Corzes (Kortsch); from there, follow road signs that say “Fußweg nach Schlanders” (footpath to Silandro) until you reach an easily visible school building. Continue east on level little alleys back to the Sun Promenade, and follow it to its end point; turn right down to Silandro; about 1 hour from the church.
