Access to Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm is subject to strict regulations and only possible by cable car. The valley station in Siusi/Seis provides plenty of parking space, In addition there are frequent shuttle busses between Castelrotto/Kastelruth and Fiè/Völs as well as bus line serving the access road between Compatsch and Saltria.

Directions

The hike begins in Compatsch, which can be reached using the cable car service from Siusi (Seis). Follow the paved road leading east. Every now and then, horse carriages will pass you: they take tourists from Compatsch to the marvellous outlook point near the Rauchhütte mountain hut (1,862 m), which you will reach in around 45 minutes of walking time. From here, you have a splendid view of the surrounding mountain scenery and major summits like Sassolungo (Langkofel) Peak and Sassopiatto (Plattkofel) Peak. After a short break, continue following the broad trail (marked 3) that takes you west. As the trail ascends,  the Denti di Terrarossa (Rosszähne) are visible to our left: this is a mountain ridge that divides Tires Valley and Alpe di Siusi. After 20 minutes, the trail leads to an intersection with the main road across the alpine pastures from Compatsch. On the left, a trail leads up to the Denti di Terrarossa and Fassa Pass. Stay on the trail that leads to Panorama Hotel (2,009 m; signposted; the hotel is also accessible  using the chairlift from Compatsch) and follow it until you reach Laurinhütte, a decently equipped mountain farm with a big terrace overlooking the locality of Compatsch, the cable car, and the impressive stone faces of the Sciliar Massif. Only a few steps away from the pasture, a sign indicates the border of Sciliar Nature Park, a vast protected area that extends as far as the Gruppo di Catinaccio Mountains. Descend going back to the Panorama Hotel; from there, a signposted trail will take you down to the mountain station of the Compatsch cable car.
