The glacial lakes of the Cobricon are located in the Paneveggio National Park at the feet of the Pale di San Martino. This hike (4.5 km), doable also in the evening, starts at the alp Rolle (1900 m), shortly ahead of the pass with the same name (1984 m). On the SAT no. 348 you walk almost evenly through forests of mountain pines, firs and larches until you reach the two lakes of the Colbricon (approx. 45 min). Very recommendable in May/June, to admire the blooming of the rhododendrons along the shores of the lakes. The surrounding summits (Cavallazza, Colbricon and Cima Stradon) create a natural amphitheatre, which creates a perfect environment for wild chamois, deer, and groundhogs. Excavations in the seventies/eighties have shown that humans have been living here in the prehistoric ages. The alpine hut Laghi di Colbricon (1922 m) offers a place to have a nice meal: dumpling soup, polenta with mushrooms and molten cheese are only two of the available delicacies. The hike can also be made longer. You either follow the flat path along and past the lakes or you walk across the meadows near the lake, where both kids and grownups can enjoy themselves by skipping stones across the waters of the lake. To return you follow the same path.
