Up onto the Sciliar Plateau, with a stop at Schlernhaus Tavern; from there, to Petz Peak

Approach from Siusi (Seis) or Castelrotto (Kastelruth) with the bus line that runs to Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) as far as the Gasthaus Frommer tavern (1,674 m); from there, take the chairlift up to Spitzbühel (1,929 m, 40 minutes on foot, Trail No. 5). Follow Trail No. 5, which is a wide path through the western slopes of Alpe di Siusi, via an easy descent via the Gstatscher and Saltnerhütte restaurants (1,825 m) to Frötschbach Stream (about 1,800 m, bridge). Beyond, continue on Trail No. 5 up to a mountain meadow, where the Touristensteig Trail (No. 1) comes up from Bad Ratzes; join this trail, which switchbacks up to the Sciliar (Schlern) Plateau, then finally runs flat over to Rifugio Bolzano (Schlernhaus) mountain refuge (2,457 m; 2.5 hours from Spitzbühel). It’s a good trail for about twenty minutes north, up an intermediate grade, to the top of Petz Peak (2,564 m). – Descent: same as ascent.

Through the Val d'Isarco (Eisacktal) to Prato all'Isarco (Blumau) and turn to Siusi allo Sciliar (Seis am Schlern).
