Hike from the Rifugio Meraner Hütte to the Vöraner Alm alpine hut

Directions

Ascent: from the car park in Avelengo (1,290 m) we take route 15, then 15A up to the Maiser Alm alpine hut (1,783 m, with refreshments). Here we turn left to follow route 17, and further on to the right along route 13A, until we reach the Rifugio Meraner Hütte (1,960 m; at least 2 hours. We can reach our destination also by walking up from Falzeben, 1,621 m, along the road and by taking some shortcuts, then taking the ski lift and cable car). – High Route: from the rifugio we follow route 4, along a pass (1,964 m); continuing up on route 4, until we reach the ridge. We continue on this pleasant route heading south along the wide ridge, going past the Kreuzjöchl Pass (1,980 m); staying on route 4 we reach the Kreuzjoch crossing point with the large cross (2,086 m). Here we leave route 4, head right (south-west), and follow route 5 and then 2, until we reach the Vöraner Alm alpine hut (1,875 m, with refreshments; 2.5 hours along the High Route). – Descent: along route 2, through the woods down to the Wurzeralm alpine hut (1,707m, with refreshments), to the meadows below and lastly down to the woods and meadows and back to the starting point (1.5 hours descent).
