This summit climb is quite easy: From the mountain hamlet of Platten, situated at an elevation of 1,600 metres, the trail strarts off almost leisurely through beautiful pine forests, and then rises gently across a fairly broad grassy ridge to the summit.

Approach from Falzes (Pfalzen) to the mountain hamlet of Platten (parking available around Lechnerhof Tavern, 1,586 m). From there, follow signage for 66A and Sambock, along footpaths and forest roads, with a generally moderate grade to the edge of the forest, then across mountain meadows up to a flat knoll, Auf den Platten (2,175 m). Continue north up Trail No. 66 over the grassy ridge, ascending slightly, to the summit of Sambock (2,396 m, 2.5 hours from the starting point). Descent: same route as ascent. Variation (for experienced hikers only): from the summit, follow trail markers, sometimes along a trail and sometimes with no path at all, across stone boulders, partly flat and partly a slight downhill grade on the north ridge to a hollow (2,365 m), then left from there, west, over steep grass steps (careful when wet!), not difficult, down to Trail No. 67, and down medium-grade grassy slopes to the Plattner Almhütte (approx. 1,940 m). Cross forest-covered hillsides along a wide trail (still following Trail No. 67.) out towards the hamlet of Platten; a good 2 hours from the summit.
