This trail leads from farm to farm. The overall effect is rich though: mixed forest, orchard meadows here and there, alpine pastures, majestic chestnut trees, and a broad vista of the Merano basin and the mountains that encircle it.

Ascent: Starting from Marlengo (Marling) near Merano (Meran) at 363 m, follow Trail M33 southwest on a small street, passing Waalheim Tavern and going up to the T-junction between the small street and the road leading up to Marlinger Berg Mountain (around 540 m); about 30 minutes from Marlengo. High Trail: turn right at the T-junction and enter the Alta Via di Marlengo (Meraner Höhenweg) high trail, which is signposted so you can’t miss it. It sometimes goes slightly up and down, but mostly just passes through meadows, woods and goes past farms (highest point of trail, about 780 m) north to Senn am Egg Tavern (698 m), where the actual trail ends; 1.5 hours from the beginning of the high trail. Descent: From Senn am Egg Tavern, continue in the same direction along a signposted path through the forest above Josefsberg, towards Forst, down to the Alta Via di Marlengo high trail again; follow it through woods, orchards, and under the little Church of San Felice (St.Felix), south to Waldschenke Tavern, from where it is a short descent back to Marlengo; 2 hours from Senn am Egg Tavern.
