The Messner family has managed the Gampenalm in Funes since 1977. Whether it’s summer or winter, the hut is located at the centre of network of panoramic paths and adventurous Alpine walks in the heart of the Dolomites. Located in the Puez-Odle Nature Park, the hut doesn’t only offer an incomparable panoramic view but also hospitality and Alpine romanticism.
Alto Adige specialities are served in the traditional Zirmstube. A pleasant and serene atmosphere fills the hikers’ hearts. On the sun-drenched terrace that offers a panoramic view, guests can relax while the little ones can enjoy themselves in the nearby field. And if a daily hike has exhausted the guests, they can stay overnight in one of the 30 rooms, surrounded by a countryside atmosphere. Guests feel at ease with the possibility of half-board.
All year round, the panorama of the Val di Funes tempts guests to touristic activities in nature. In summer, hikers, mountain-lovers and mountain-bikers can take a break in the haven while in winter, skiing tours, walks with snow shoes, sledging slopes and winter walks all lead to the entrance of the Malga Gampenalm. A favourite is the sledging slope near the hut.
Openings: In summer from Pentecost to 3rd November. In winter from 26th December to beginning of March. Overnight accommodation is available in the summer.
The Gampenalm mountain hut near Funes is an appreciated hiking destination near the Dolomites. Guests are treated to homemade Alto Adige delicacies in the wooden Stube; some even stay overnight.
Whoever wishes to breathe in fresh mountain air during the summer can stay overnight at the Malga Gampenalm. Located at over 2,000 metres above sea-level, guests can stay in a cosy room, while enjoying the beauty and tranquillity of the mountains. 3 double rooms and a few dorms are available at the Malga Gampenalm; all are wonderfully furnished with wood, which creates an old-fashioned hut atmosphere. The hut offers a total of 30 romantic beds.
Guests of the hut can opt for half-board. A nutritious hut breakfast will fill you up and prepare you for the day’s activities; while in the evening, a delicious three course meal awaits you. For our greedy guests, upon request, there is the option of a surprise menu.

Delicious dishes are served in the beautiful and fragrant Zirmstube. A real treat for the hungry hikers. The homemade Alto Adige specialities give energy to those tired legs. Delicacies like the light barley soup, tasty cheese canederli or a flavoursome game goulash are a delight to the palate. Try the home-grown produce like speck, Rindsgeselchtes (braised beef in beer), grey cheese, milk, dairy products, marmalade, apple or elderflower juice.
Each day, Alto Adige countryside specialities are made, like tirtlen, Erdäpfelblattlen (fried potatoes) or the Pressknödel. Just ask and taste! Sometimes the kitchen will brush up their recipes. The noble wines from the Peters vineyard guarantee a happy atmosphere, but before guests leave they are offered a grappa.
