Informationen zu Tower in the lake Reschensee
The year 1950 was the year of the blockage of the lake Reschensee in the upper valley of Vinschgau. A long planned project was brought to its conclusion. The artificial lake should be used to generate current. Only sore point of this flooding was the fact that 150 families were deprived of their home as they lost their houses and their farms.
The flooding of 677 hectare of land only left the now protected bell tower of the church, the rest of the houses were evacuated and blown up beforehand. Up until today the tower stands out of the water, remembering of the happenings of this place.
The tower in the lake Reschensee is the lonely contemporary witness of the flooding after the 2nd World War.
