The path is signposted in some areas, but definitely not everywhere - having a good map and good planning is essential here. If you upgrade to Outdooractive Pro or Pro+, you can download this track and the map to your phone and use the navigation feature. You can also print the route if you prefer paper maps. I don't know any English language literature about the trail, but there's a good German hiking guidebook: "München Venedig" by Rother Bergverlag.
