Informationen zu Gufidaun Museum

Founded in 1971, the Gufidaun Museum changed locations several times before finding its permanent home in the historic Pfleghaus building. The building was prepared and furnished with great personal involvement by the Museum Society, especially its president Otto Schenk. The items of folklore and art history are displayed on three floors. The collection can be divided into three main thematic areas: tools for agriculture, handicraft, and domestic use; religious and secular art, and the documentation of the village’s history. Tours also include the ancient and early history of the village. Next to the museum is the archeological zone, where the Office of Historic Preservation has unearthed sections of walls from the Iron Age (6th cen. BC) and the Roman period (1st cen. AD) that were dated using the findings of ceramics. Items from these excavations are integrated into a permanent exhibition on archeology in Gufidaun at the Hohes Haus manor.
