Informationen zu Castle Colz

The beginnings of the Ansitz Rubatsch, or Castle Colz, lie in 1536 when Hans Rubatsch built a residence in the village of Abtei. From the 16th century onwards, the castle was then owned by the Heeren von Colz. The house was used for different things over the centuries. Once used as a place for the rich, it became a meeting point for the poor and, finally, as “Gran Ciasa”, it was used by farmers. Today, the castle is used as a cultural meeting point.

The castle Colz in Stern im Gadertal/La Villa in Val Badia became primarily famous because of the “Gran Bracün”, Franz Wilhelm Prack zu Asch. Between the year of 1573 and 1581 he made himself famous as a theft, womaniser, and hero.
