Bolzano/Bozen and environs, Hiking
Especially during the spring time, Bozen offers a large amount of hiking opportunities. The three cable cars allow a fast ascent onto the surrounding mountains. The Rittner Seilbahn, for example, brings you to the “Hausberg” of Bozen in only a few minutes and those who are fit enough can also climb this mountain themselves. Even during the coldest winters, the sunny slopes of Bozen are almost always free from snow, which is also true for the slopes of the mountain Guntschnaberg. During the hot summers, whenever the temperature in the valley get uncomfortably high, you can follow the calls of the cool forests of Kohlern, also to be reached in only a few minutes via the cable car. Along some paths you can even feel the alpine rush and along the Leiferer Höhenweg you can grab the supporting steel rope. The hikes through Terlan, a village famous for its vines, are largely easier and in the summer you can also climb the high plateau on the Salten. As you can see, hiking in Bozen and its surroundings is far more exciting than you might have expected.
