From the car park turn immediately right and cycle to the embankment of the Resia Lake. On the west bank of the river, follow the signposts for the “Reschen/Resia” cycling path. This part of the route that reaches the furthest western point of the lake is characterised by continuous ups and downs. Small hills are alternated with quick descents, so there is never a dull moment. Even the surfers and kite surfers on the lake live up the scenery.
After a good 6 kms, you will reach the station downstream from the Piz Schöneben cable car. Follow for the moment the road until you reach the edge of the town of Resia; then turn right and follow the signposts “Seerunde/Tour around the River”. At this point, you’re already halfway! To return to the starting point, cycle along the east side of the river. You will cycle along a nice flat cycling path equipped with numerous benches where you can stop to take in the lacustrine views. Along this path you will finally reach the church steeple of Curon Vecchia, which rises from the waters: an incredible testimony of the creation of the artificial Resia Lake.
Car park on the south river bank of the Resia Lake
From Bolzano drive to Merano and then to the Venosta Valley until you reach S. Valentino alla Muta. On the main road, 700m after the town you can park your car directly on the embankment of the Resia Lake.
