The Restaurant zur Rose is located in the former courthouse in the pedestrian only area of St. Michael/Eppan. Our cosy small Rose Stube is panelled in light wood, the small vaulted hall traditionally furnished.

Herbert Hintner - BIOGRAPHY

  • Herbert Hintner, born on 2.09.1957 in Pichl – Gsiesertal as the oldest son of 4 children
  • In 1972 after completing secondary school he began training as a chef in Hotel Centrale in the Gader valley
  • Vocational school in Bozen 
  • Various hotels in South Tyrol 
  • First contact with creative cuisine in Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld
  • In 1982 marriage to Margot Rabensteiner, daughter of Peter Rabensteiner and Rosa Stimpfl, owners of the Restaurant Zur Rose in Eppan
  • Herbert Hintner’s philosophy: creative and innovative preparation of traditional cuisine with regional products
  • Margot Hintner constantly tries to incorporate the same philosophy into the wine list 
  • Training and further training of the young is very important for Herbert Hintner 
  • Herbert Hintner found taste training in the secondary school at St. Michael/Eppan very exciting
  • Herbert Hintner and his wife Margot, who manages the service, succeeded with consistency and hard work in gaining recognition in national and international restaurant guides.
