The ice giant in the middle of the glaciers

From Brunico along theSelva dei Molini – Mühlwald to the last car park by the Neves reservoir (1,860 m; toll road from Lappago – Lappach). You can walk up the challenging zigzag path following route 24 (or you can take the easier pathway), through woods and grazing land to reach the Rifugio Chemnitzer Hütte-Porro al passo di Neves (2419 m; 1:30 hours at least). Continuing north-west on route 1 (the Neves high route); past the footbridge over the mountain stream, turn right to the footpath bordered by stone figures. An unmarked track over boulders and rock leads up to the moraine. The trail then continues up to the glacier. There are no crevasses but beware of falling rocks and of unstable boulders (or steep snowy slopes) when crossing to the other side to reach the col between the Piccolo and Grande Möseler (3,400 m approx). An easy climb to the left (west) over rock and boulders on the steep east ridge leads to the peak (3,479 m; 4 hours from the refuge). Return via the same route.
