Directions
From Naturno – Naturns in the Lower Venosta Valley you will be walking along the entire Val Senales to the Vernago reservoir (1,711 m). Route 2, by the Tisenhof mountain guesthouse (1,822 m), crosses the entire Tisental Valley with sustained ascents through woods, meadows and sometimes rocky terrain (en route we pass a small centuries' old shepherd's shelter) and reaches the Rifugio Similaun (3,019 m, sleeps 100; 4 hours' walking time). After an overnight stay we will be walking down to the glacier, then taking a steep trail that leads east up again to the glacier, keeping an eye out for crevasses. We'll soon reach the sharp mountain ridge and the highest peak (3,606 m, 2 hours from the Rifugio). Return via the same route.
