South Tyrol's highest shelter: the Becher summit offers unrivalled views of the surrounding giant glaciers.


From Val Ridanna (Ridnauner Talschluss, 1417 m; old mining area) on Route 9 along Fernerbach via Aglsboden up to Grohmannhütte (2254 m) and Teplitzer Hütte (2586 m; 3:30 hrs. from processing site), then continue on Route/Track 9 across boulders and cliff formations (fixed ropes along smooth ledges) on almost even ground to an area near Übertalsee, then uphill over a moraine to and across the aforementioned glacier arm, reaching the foot of Becher's southern flank (Becher rock), then zigzagging along a partly roped rocky path up to Becherhaus (3195 m; sleeps 100, serviced during summer); from Teplitzer Hütte 2:30 to 3 hrs. – To Müllerhütte: From Becher slightly descending to a level glacier crossing (watch out for crevices!), just under 0:30 hrs. – Descent: via the same route.

Public transportation

By train to Sterzing, then by bus to Maiern. 20-minute walk to valley head.


Through Valle Isarco (Eisacktal) and Wipptal to Sterzing as far as Stange then on to Innerridnaun and the valley head.
